Today you’ve been asked to wake up early, wash your hair and be ready for the day. It’s the first day of Dusshera and amma is very particular about all the festivities going according to plan. Earlier in the morning, you went out for a walk and plucked flowers so you can arrange the Pooja room. Amma has asked nanna to arrange the Pooja room so now you have no other work. Almost all festive seasons are celebrated with a good meal in most of India, and so in your house too.

Amma cooks atleast two different varieties of rice, plenty of Sambar and other items. The entire family looks forward to these festive seasons, as it’s a feast for your taste buds. Not only it is a time when we all gather and spread love but also share food. Although amma doesn’t like it very much, along with all the food she makes, you always relish a mouth watering pickle in all the meals. You ask her how come she agreed to this ? She smiles and says that nanna likes it and so, she ordered it. It’s goes very well with roti and daal rice. The minute your father tasted the pickle he takes two more servings of it, as if he’s never had pickle before !
